More information about general anxiety:

We all experience anxiety at different levels at some time or another. Healthy anxiety can serve you well when there is danger and may keep you safe. However, we may also experience anxiety when there is no conscious cause or reason to feel anxious to a higher level or degree.
The same symptoms that occur when experiencing anxiety may be the same as in many physical medical disorders, however, they can also occur in everyday life quite suddenly for no apparent reason. A trauma, a loss, a life adjustment, a difficult relationship or issues at work and many more everyday difficulties that can occur at any time may trigger anxiety.

Anxiety can have both psychological and physical symptoms. Anxiety disorders can be categorized into 4 categories in my experience:

1) Generalised anxiety (where the symptoms are continuous but may come and go to a degree).
2) Phobia anxiety disorders (where the anxiety is irregular, and happens only in certain circumstances).
3) Panic disorder (where the anxiety is irregular and unrelated to any particular circumstance, and
4) Social anxiety or relationship anxiety (where the person, to a larger or lesser degree, struggles with relationships; mostly the relationship with oneself).

“In summary the psychological symptoms and physical symptoms can be some or more of the following:
Psychological arousal:
Fearful anticipation.
Irritability.
Sensitivity to noise.
Restlessness.
Poor concentration.
Worrying thought.
Autonomic arousal:
Gastrointestinal
Dry mouth.
Difficulty swallowing.
Tummy discomfort.
Excessive wind.
Frequent loose motions.
Respiratory
Constriction in chest.
Difficulty inhaling.
Cardiovascular
Palpitations.
Discomfort in chest.
Awareness of missed heart beats.
Genitourinary
Frequent or urgent micturition (urinate).
Failure of erection.
Menstrual discomfort.
Amenorrhea.
Muscle tension
Tremor.
Headache.
Aching muscles.
Hyperventilation
Dizziness.
Tingling in the extremities.
Feeling breathless
Sleep disturbance
Insomnia.
Night terrors.”
The above symptoms can be symptoms of anxiety but should always be checked out by a medical professional to rule out any medical condition.

PERSONAL ANXIETY TREATMENT PLAN: It is important to seek a professional assessment to determine the best treatment plan. Everybody is unique, however, in my experience Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an effective treatment plan for anxiety, although even just talking to a professional who is not emotionally caught up in what may feel like a turmoil, can help you to start to clear the pathway forward and recognise negative patterns that may be avoidable with insight.
I am an experienced counsellor, hypnotherapist and life coach. I find that all these areas of therapy can really help on the journey of managing anxiety.

Counselling (CBT): Working with the conscious mind to discuss the issues at a conscious level.

Hypnotherapy (Hypnosis): Working with the unconscious/subconscious mind and thus working with the subconscious to experience deep, deep, relaxation and accept positive suggestion for your own wellbeing.

Life Coaching (NLP): And further down the line, and probably much sooner, working towards a brighter future to reach be your optimum.

The above therapies are optional for you when working with me; as everyone is unique, I will advise and tailor the therapy to your individual needs collaboratively, however, ultimately you choose your pathway forward at your own pace and in your own time.
So call me and learn how it feels, or text me, on 07950 906421 to arrange your FREE PRE-INITIAL ASSESSMENT – I will be delighted to hear from you – leave a message if I am not available and I will get back to you.

Warm Regards, Maggie Bell (BACP & GHR)
